EXMOOR COTTAGE HOLIDAYS

Surfing holidays in North Devon at Exmoor Cottage Holidays

Surfing holidays are very popular in North Devon and the surfing beaches at Woolacombe, Croyde and Saunton are considered by many to be the finest in the UK. North Devon is only 50 minutes from the M5 and much more accessible for those travelling from London and the Midlands than the surfing beaches at Newquay in Cornwall.

If you love surfing but don't want to stay in the busy crowded resorts, then Exmoor Cottage Holidays is ideal for you. The five stone cottages are full of charm and character, and surrounded by large enchanting grounds. They are within 300 yards of an award-winning pub, and within 15 miles of all the North Devon surfing beaches, including those at Croyde, Saunton Sands, Woolacombe and Putsborough.

Why waste time when you could be surfing? If you don't like shopping you can arrange to have Sainsburys, Tesco, or Asda (all in Barnstaple) deliver it to the cottage for you; and if you don't want to cook, the local pub is just two minutes' walk, with award-winning food and real ales. We have a good knowledge of Exmoor and North Devon and are happy to help with your enquiries (and feed the wild birds): we can show you the best surfing beaches on an OS map (which you may borrow); recommend local services (e.g. taxi, surf shops, restaurants, sight-seeing tours and adventure activities); and often have special deals arranged just for our guests. We also offer (charged extra) service wash and dry, logs and kindling, towel hire (sorry, not beach towels) and cottage cleaning so that you can get the most from your surfing holiday in North Devon.

There are lots of other activities available if you want a change from surfing, including swimming, canoeing, high rope climbing, coasteering, quad-biking, clay pigeon shooting, horse riding, paint balling and of course walking! You can visit historic Ilfracombe Harbour, where there has been a light on Lantern Hill for over a thousand years, and see Damien Hirst's controversial statue of Verity; medieval Dunster, which has a fascinating castle, a C13th dovecote and C16th Yarn Market; the Valley of Rocks, with spectacular rock formations and a large community of wild goats; and take the amazing water-powered cliff railway between the twin seaside towns of Lynton and Lynmouth.

In the evening you can enjoy the excellent food & atmosphere at the local Black Venus Inn, or visit one of the many other good restaurants in the area; e.g. Lilico's in Barnstaple for tapas, the Boathouse in Instow for seafood, Giovanni's & Luca's in Ilfracombe for Italian, The Exmoor Forest Inn for Sunday roast and The Fox & Goose in Parracombe for steak and fish stew.

Exmoor Cottage Holidays is ideal for your UK surfing holiday in North Devon, especially if you dislike the crowded resorts. The cottages are less than an hours drive from the M5, with charming accommodation, peaceful surroundings, an award winning pub just a few minutes walk away, and only 15 miles away from arguably the best surfing beaches in the UK.
