There is a traditional award winning inn, the Black Venus, within a few minutes walk, with very good food, real Exmoor ales and a selection of Champagnes. Next to the inn is a friendly shop and Post Office with groceries, cakes and wines - and they serve lovely cream teas in their gardens. For some serious pampering, Home Place spa and treatment rooms are nearby, available at limited times for holistic treatments and therapy

There are lots of special places to visit including Broomhills in Muddiford, which serves magnificent Mediterranean food and has a large sculpture park in the grounds; Clarets in Ilfracombe, with excellent seasonal food and wine and the Boathouse in Instow for seafood. If you don't want to use your car there is a taxi service available in the village

Cuddle up in front of the log fire, sipping real coffee (a coffee maker is provided) or enjoy a picnic in the large private gardens. There are delightful views from the top of Humphrey's Hill and breathtaking views and walks on all the surrounding hills
